Canva, the graphic design platform, has announced a major update that includes several new AI features in its Magic Studio. One of them is AI-generated video, which is made possible by a partnership with Runway, a platform for creative AI.

With Magic Media, users can create short videos up to 18 seconds long from text prompts or images, using Runway's technology. The videos can be customized with different styles, music, and effects.

Other new AI features in Canva's Magic Studio are:

- AI-assisted translations, which can automatically translate any document into over 100 languages.

- Document to video, which can turn any document into a video presentation with animations and voiceovers.

- Text to design, which can generate design templates from text inputs.

Canva also launched Canva Shield, a set of security controls and indemnification for enterprises that use AI in their designs. Additionally, Canva has created a $200 million fund to pay creators when their work is used to train Canva's AI models.

Canva said that the AI features have been very popular among its users, attracting 65 million new users in the past year and reaching 16 million paying subscribers.

The update shows that Canva is leveraging AI to make design easier and faster for everyone, while also addressing the ethical and legal issues that come with using AI.
