MCDONALD'S REPLACES DRIVE-THRU HUMAN WORKERS WITH SIRI-LIKE AI

McDonald's is shaking up the fast-food world by testing a voice-recognition system in their drive-thrus at ten Chicago locations. This AI, similar to Siri, is handling 80% of orders with an 85% success rate. The company's CEO, Chris Kempczinski, mentioned during an investor conference that this tech could go nationwide in five years.

This move sparks big questions: How will AI reshape industries? And will the push for higher minimum wages lead companies to favor machines over people?

Interestingly, the human touch is still in play. Workers have been inadvertently hindering the AI's learning process by jumping in too quickly to correct errors. Kempczinski notes that they've had to train staff to trust the AI and let it learn from real-world interactions.

For now, fully automated food prep remains a distant goal, meaning McDonald's jobs aren't disappearing just yet. However, as automation becomes more prevalent, the dilemma of balancing technology with human employment becomes more critical and pressing.
